I’m going to be so honest with you. Publication Day has been a bit of a bummer.
Thankfully, I anticipated this. I knew that for most people, it would just be a random Tuesday in October. In most ways, it is for me, too. I still have my day job, kids to take care of, and laundry to do (ok, laundry to ignore). I knew that to really enjoy the fact that my book comes out today, I’d have to make my own magic. And—again, random Tuesday in October—even that magic is going to be low-key: dinner sans kids with my husband and just relishing for the millionth time that I saw a project alllll the way through. (And at a pretty high level of polish, too. I mean, come on, have you seen this book? She’s gorgeous.)
At the end of the day, I’m re-relearning that the only way to stay in love with writing is to love the process, not the external validation. The real reward of creating this book was, truly, in the creation of it and seeing it in person, in my hands.
